One of my friend borrowed this book to me last year, and told me "you must read it"... I've been putting off this book in bookshelf for a while....and so happend another friend of mine recomended me the same book as well...and he gave a very good comment
So, on CNY 2009 long holidays, i grabbed this book with me everywhere i go and I'm using 4 days to finish and watch the movie as well...this phrase "for you, thousand times over" really impressed me...and this is a very touching story and they make it a good movie....
Herewith my little summary for this novel :
"While Amir takes us primarily on a journey of redemption, Hassan takes us on a journey of love. He says to Amir, "for you, a thousand times over!" and this lines connecting Amir's destiny with Hassan. After 26 years, Amir giving this redemption to Sohrab (son of Hassan) "for you, a thousand times over!""
And now, lets check the cover page and more description of this novel (there are many version of coverpage for this book but I've choosen the cover page that i read)..... here we go....
"Taking us from Afghanistan in the final days of the monarchy to the present, The Kite Runner is the unforgettable, beautifully told story of the friendship between two boys growing up in Kabul. Raised in the same household and sharing the same wet nurse, Amir and Hassan nonetheless grow up in different worlds: Amir is the son of a prominent and wealthy man, while Hassan, the son of Amir's father's servant, is a Hazara, member of a shunned ethnic minority.
Their intertwined lives, and their fates, reflect the eventual tragedy of the world around them. When the Soviets invade and Amir and his father flee the country for a new life in California, Amir thinks that he has escaped his past. And yet he cannot leave the memory of Hassan behind him.
The Kite Runner is a novel about friendship, betrayal, and the price of loyalty. It is about the bonds between fathers and sons, and the power of their lies. Written against a history that has not been told in fiction before, The Kite Runner describes the rich culture and beauty of a land in the process of being destroyed. But with the devastation, Khaled Hosseini also gives us hope: through the novel's faith in the power of reading and storytelling, and in the possibilities he shows for redemption."
Over two years on the New York Times bestseller list, and published in 42 different languages. (Eveyone here, please grab it in any bookshop at your preference languages.... :) )

This is one the best book i ever read in year 2008. As commented by the blog author, this is a worth reading book. It told you life in Afganistan, culture that we will never gone through in Malaysia. In fact, now i am more interested in Middle East Story, especially by Khaled Hosseini.
Personally, i feel the movie of 'The Kite Runner' is not as nice as the book written.
Lastly, i will read this book for the second time sometime in my life.
Cheers,
Andy
